Congratulations Ferlien Mae Baula - January 2009 Pharmacy Board Exam Passer!

I am so glad to share to you that my elementary and high school classmate, college schoolmate, friend and sister in our assets (the eyes…lol) — Ferlien Mae Baula has passed the January 2009 Pharmacy Board Examination. 

The HCM and UIC family are surely very proud of you. We really are.

As for the "sexiness" controversy, the desire for these types of costumes stems from our puritanical views towards s-_-_ in general. We as a society have vilified s-_-_ and made the subject taboo. For anybody who has raised or even has been a teenager, we can all attest that forbidding something only makes it more desirable for young adults.

I, myself, do not think that Halloween is about s-_-_. But, I do believe that play-acting is a healthy psychological outlet for many people. It allows us to express our inner feelings when normally we find it embarrassing or unacceptable. If we were to open a dialogue about s-_-_, we would see a trend towards more "traditional" costumes at Halloween and any other parties.
